RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

How so? A Smart can easily keep up with highway/interstate speeds. Most SxS's can hardly do 50mph. Just because a SxS would be more snow worthy does not mean SxS > Smart for road usage.Never said a side by side is capable of highway use. But on secondary roads, their just as adequate as the smart cars. More so in adverse conditions. I think one of you're armadillo's down South would cause more of a bump; if run over by a big rig, than a smart car. I'll gladly drive the 18 wheeler, for the experiment.

RE: Tire repairs

What do you guys carry in the field in case of a flat tire?
I recently came down with two flats(slow leaks) while in the field. It is a new machine so I thought it might be rim leaks so I took it to a dealer. He said they found several small pin holes which may have come from brush or thorns. He filled both tires with some leak larva which sealed the holes from the inside.
Is this type of repair permanent? My tires always seem to be magnets, for debris, on the trails. I always carry a plug kit, and a small 12 volt air compressor. Thank goodness I did, my stock tires had multiple plugs all around. I switched to Holeshot ATR tires, some time ago, and have had no puncture problems. I did have trouble getting the beads to seat. I added slime to all four tires, and have had no further problems. To be prepared carry a plug kit, small compressor, or a CO2 supply. I recommend the slime, others don't like. I feel the benefits, outweigh the drawbacks. I also now carry a rachet strap, to help get a tire seated back on the bead. I had one come off the bead a few years back, and they are not fun to fix, in the middle of nowhere. Luckily NH Kingquad was there to help me out(thanks Dave).

RE: Honda Finally did it

There's no denying that Honda makes great products. When contractors started using Honda generators in the 80's they outlasted the Briggs or Tecumseh equipted units at least three fold. This caused other engine makers to vastly improve their designs. This is also true with other products, such as ATV's. Honda's problem is; if a particular product works well, they are very slow to update it. Even when its common scence upgrades. Such as going with disk brakes on certain models. It took them forever to finally switch to them. If Honda would be a little more bold in modernizing some things, they could truly shock the world with new products.

RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

Would that include Side X Sides? I don't think having them on major highways or interstates is a good idea. Only on streets. They should also legalize side by sides. I think a Rhino or a Razor is more capable than those pathetic smart cars,LINK. I wonder how those smart cars handle in snowy conditions.

RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

I live in Montana and my ATV is street legal. When you drive a ATV on the street you may have a few problems the first is tire wear and the second is the locked rear end makes them hard to turn.Good points Bear. Harder compound tires would defiantly help on the street. And if more states legalized ATV's; maybe more manufacturers would include a rear differential that can be unlocked, such as found on some Polaris models.

RE: Honda Finally did it

642lbs? Even wet thats alot of weight for a 420.. with a 3.5 gallon tank.
Why does honda still use those 24" tires with 11inch rims? they should just go with 25/x/12's all around IMO.
Why, the weight is right in there with the IRS Yamaha Grizzly 450 and the Suzuki King Quad 450.
But BOTH of the ATVs you mentioned are IRS.
The weight of the Big Bear 350 auto is more of a fair comparison.
Dry weight on the Big Bear 350 is: 536 lb
The Rancher refering to in this thread was the 09 Rancher AT which will now have IRS and PS, and a Rubicon like automatic transmission. There is no Big Bear 350 by the way, and the Grizzly 350/Big Bear 400 are air cooled without a dual tranny, and non FI, so there is no comparison. The non IRS Rancher weighs in at 605 wet. RN, I think Kssims was referring to the Grizzly 350, formally called the Bruin. The Grizzly/Bruin 350 and the Big Bear 400 are both indeed air-cooled. But the Grizz 350 uses a single range auto(no low)trans. The Big Bear 400 is a 5 speed semi-auto. And the original Big Bears were 350's, some model's had a dual range semi-auto, 10 speeds forward and 2 reverse. The new Ranchers do totally outclass the Grizz 350, but the Big Bears have always hung in there with them, especially the latest version with IRS and diff lock. But some Honda people have blinders on; they refuse to acknowledge that any other manufacturer could possibly compete with the mighty red wing. Not saying you're one of "those" people RN, but they certainty are out there.

RE: Quotes from the Racist Obama

Yes, I have sent product to China for farther processing. You wave our flag, but you acknowledge you you do business with China Willie. Bite the bullet and drop them. Domestic trading might cost a few points now but our future is at stake. My wife bought apple juice this week at CVS pharmacy this week.(a local chain). I looked at the container, and it said "product of China". We have hundreds of apple farms here in the Northeast, and we buy juice from China. What's up with that? Buy American.

RE: Richard Wright found dead...

I always hoped that I could see Pink Floyd reunite for a tour... It's really a shame, he was one of the best musicians of our time and he founded the best band ever.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7617363.stm
The time is gone, the song is over.
Shine on, Rick. Never really got into Floyd. Most of the people in my generation, who were into them were potheads. But I always respected them as talented trendsetter's, of that music ghendra. See you on the "Dark Side of the Moon", Rick.

RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

Heck yeah! I'm all in for riding my wheeler to work! and every where else! I've been working on a Federally funded construction project for about three months now. The general contractor hires labor threw a temp agency, of which the majority tend to be minority's. I don't really have problem with them, but the communication gap, defiantly is a safety factor. Anyway, all these Guys are driving pocket bikes and small scooters to the job. I talked to one who could speak broken English, and he said all he needed was a $15 per year sticker from the city to legally drive his bike. Nothing else, not even a driving liessence. What a deal, but I've got to keep my Grizzly parked in my garage all week, and spend $50 bucks a week on gas for my pickup. All the while, this illegal tools around on his Chinese scooter for $5 bucks a week. What's wrong with this picture?

Excpt then we might as well change the name to The United Socialist States of America. :MExactamundo Brother! Remember the Regan years? Pleanty of work for everybody, plenty of money in the country.Good times for everybody that worked. Clinton(along with his whore wife) sold us out, that's what started this contry's decline.

This whole aspect of change is irrelevant. The Presidents job as it is spelled out is to uphold the Constitution. Obumass is already talking about modifying the 2nd amendment to conform with our time frame, and U.N. guidelines. He's trying to change the Constitution, even before he reaches office. A treasonous act in my book; string up the p.o.s.!

Barama just said: "When you put lipstick on a pig".You stll have a pig!....Palins discription on a hockey mom....News is reporting he said Palin is a PIG! The only Pig that should be referred to, is his wife. That nappy haired ho, once stated that: she can't recall anything that the United States has done that's she is proud of. Ah, what about freeing you're fat azz, from slavery, and saving the world from fascists during WWII. Muslims don't eat pork but they marry swine.
